this winter set heart
Sunday 30 June 2013 //

it's officially winter, and a very wet one too. despite being on a break from school for three weeks i still have to work 5 days a week. ugh! all i want to do is rug up in bed + catch up on doctor who. to get through this cold weather ive been relying heavily on my hot water bottle + soup. i like making soup from scratch because it's an easy way to get your daily five veggies + i also know everything thats gone into it. you can also make a huge pot that'll last almost a week for under $10. my favourite soup at the moment is spicy pumpkin + i thought i'd share the recipe with you guys.

ingredients:
1/2 chopped + peeled butternut pumpkin
1 chopped + peeled potato.
1 cup chopped mushroom
1 chopped onion
1/2 C chopped coriander
1 C creamed corn
1 T crushed chilli
1 T minced garlic
4-5 C water
Powdered vegetable stock
3/4 C low fat milk

1. wash, cut + peel everything!
2. put vegetables into large pot, add 4-5 cups of water or until the vegetables are completely covered.
3. add vegetable stock cubes (crushed!) based on how many cups of water you added, 1 cup of water = 1 stock cube.
4. add creamed corn, chilli and garlic. if you're not a fan of spicy foods please reduce the amount of chilli.
5. put on stove top and bring to boil.
6. cover with lid + boil for 40 minutes or until pumpkin is soft.
7. remove from heat + blend, add milk while doing so. (If you want a creamier soup you can use cream but a sweet low fat milk + creamed corn work fine, another option is coconut cream.)
8. enjoy!

this soup is really quite spicy as i am obsessed with spicy foods so just be warned it can be very hot. although it's nice when fresh, i always find it much tastier once it's been in the fridge overnight.

this week i bought some more beauty stuff + went to lush. i got a covergirl clean pressed powder in ivory; i normally get this powder in transparent but they've changed the formula + now the "clean" powder is fragranced + much heavier but i found this older version in ivory. i also got a new lipstick, rimmel's lasting finish lipstick in pink blush + a napoleon perdis set primer brush. is there a difference between primer + foundation brushes?! they were all sold out of foundation ones so i bought it on a whim + it seems fine.

i went to lush on thursday night after work as i wanted to get some of the cupcake face mask but they didn't have any. i still ended up chatting to the lush lady for ages + she was really lovely + said i should apply to work there. i bought a bubblegum lip scrub as well as the dragon's egg bath ballistic, twilight bath ballistic (my favourite!) + a creamy candy bubble bar.
as i am terrible around the shops i also went to peter alexander + had a little look at the EOFY sales. somehow i managed to stay strong but i am now seriously trying to decide which pajamas i want to buy from there. i would really like the honey bear pajamas set but they've sold out online + i dont think my local store had any left either. my favourite pajamas, the arabella ramsay for target bambi ones, were ruined earlier this week in the wash + im thinking that perhaps a cute new pair might ease my pain.
